Kapok was born from our conviction that we have reached a point when we must reconsider our relationship with nature.
Conceived from its inception on principles of regenerative living- built according to principles of bio-architecture, using sustainable, local materials, renewable energy and organically grown ingredients.
Kapok means the Ceiba or ya’axché (in Mayan language). It was the most sacred tree for the Mayans, the symbol of the universe. The tree represented a way of communication between three levels of the earth. Its roots represented the underworld (Xibalba), its trunk represented the middle world, where humans live, and Its top, arched high in the sky, symbolized the upper world, the origin of all the Gods and the thirteen levels in which the Mayans heaven was divided.
